for People of all Abilities
Summer Reading is for Everyone!
Contra Costa County Library is dedicated to offering services, programs, and opportunities for people with disabilities, including participation in the annual Summer Reading Program.
The requirements for participation in the Summer Reading Program are based on Contra Costa County Library’s commitment to promoting reading and literacy in our communities. In addition to the traditional forms of reading, participation in Summer Reading is welcomed in the following ways:
Listening to books on CD or downloadable audiobooks
Being read to with books, eBooks, magazines, newspapers, and other text materials
Reading aloud to someone else
Attending a story time program
Attending a library program
Getting a Discover & Go Pass
The Summer Reading Program offers a full range of Reading Records for all ages and levels of reading. Various incentives and prizes are available and are not limited to specific age groups.
Reference staff is available to assist patrons in choosing the appropriate Reading Passports for Summer Reading participation. Choices of appropriate Reading Passports are available and not limited to age or grade. Most Summer Reading Reading Records can be converted electronic text or large print upon request.
Contra Costa County Libraries offer materials in a variety of formats, including large print or abridged, visual “how-to” books, downloadable eBooks and audio eBooks, and captioned DVDs. The Library subscribes to electronic resources that include a text-to-speech enhancement.
