Free Homework Help at Contra Costa County Libraries & Online

Stumped by an assignment and want to talk someone who can help?  Check out these resources.

  • Bay Point Public Library
    Volunteers offer homework help to those in K-12 from 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at the Bay Point Library - located at 205 Pacifica Ave. in Bay Point. For more information on the library please click on the link above
  • Clayton Public Library
    Clayton has two programs available for students in K-12. A one-on-one tutoring program between volunteer tutors and students and a group tutoring program on Wednesdays between 1 and 4 pm. For location information and contact information for the library please click on the link above.
  • Lafayette Library and Learning Center
    Homework Help is offered Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Homework Center for grades K-12.
  • Tutor.com - Free tutoring for Military Families
    This service, provided by tutor.com, provides free online tutoring to students whom have family members in the military service. The student must meet certain qualifications so please click on the link for more information.

  • California Missions eBooks
    Twenty-one California Missions eBooks that can be read online or downloaded. The checkout period for these titles is 48 hours.
  • Kid's Search
    80+ full-text elementary school magazines Includes the following: Encyclopedia of Animals, Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, American Heritage Children's Dictionary and an Image Collection.
  • Points of View
    Provides students with a series of essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. 280+ topics, each with an overview, point, counterpoint, and Critical Thinking Guide.
  • Student Research Center
    140+ full-text middle school magazines. 500+ full-text high school magazines and expanded full-text backfiles ( to 1975) for key magazines. Includes Biographies and Historical Essays, Primary Source Documents, reference books and an Image Collection of photos, maps and flags.

    Fiscal, demographic, and performance data on California’s K-12 schools.
  • Education.com
    Education.com provides parents of school-aged children with free access to information and resources to give them the answers they need — plus activities and articles that make learning together more fun for everyone.
  • kids click!
    Annotated searchable directory of websites created for kids by librarians. Searchable by subject, reading level and degree of picture content. Great for homework help and research!
  • Wikipedia for Schools
    Offers thousands of articles that have been individually checked for accuracy and appropriateness. The site is updated each academic year by volunteers from the English Wikipedia and SOS Children, a British children's charity. Topics are selected from an array of academic categories and then "tidied up" for use by students. A bonus for teachers in the U.S. is that students can't click off to other sites that may not be safe or appropriate for school
  • DataQuest
    This is a summary of the reports that are available through DataQuest. You may also use QuickQuest for less elaborate data reports concerning Kindergarten through grade twelve enrollment, teachers, and English learners.
