How to Submit Your Request

The Library will assist in searching its holdings of local Contra Costa County newspapers for obituaries of persons who lived or died in Contra Costa County.

Please complete the request form below:

or call in your request at: (925) 646-6434

Please provide the decedent's full name, date of death, place of death in Contra Costa County, and any other information that will be helpful to the research.

Information for deaths between 1940 and 1997 must be verified in the California Death Records.

You may submit one request per day.

Walk-in assistance is provided at the Periodicals Desk of the Pleasant Hill Library.

    CONTRA COSTA COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

    The Contra Costa County Historical Society History Center has a historical collection of local obituaries prior to  1984.

    Search their Obituary Index by name for the death date.   For obituaries after 1984, contact them directly.

    They also have indexed vital records - marriage, birth & death  from the Contra Costa County Gazette and the Antioch Ledger. View the indexes in the Vital Records box
