New Registration Requirements for Qualified Purchasers to Report Use Tax.

New legislation, Assembly Bill x4-18 (Stats. 2009, Ch. 16), requires a “qualified purchaser” to register with the Board of Equalization and report and pay use tax directly to the Board of Equalization.  Under this section, a “qualified purchaser” includes businesses with at least $100,000 in annual gross receipts from business operations.

  • Tax Assistance in Antioch from Opportunity Junction
    Attend a workshop at Opportunity Junction to prepare and electronically file your own taxes for the fastest possible refund. Only basic computer skills are needed. This free service is for taxpayers and taxpaying families earning less than $52,000 in 2009 who do not need to itemize deductions (not home-owners), and are employees, not business
    owners. Check their calendar for sessions.
  • AARP Tax-Aide  
    Rating
    Offers free, volunteer- run tax assistance and preparation service to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those age 60 and older. Make an appontment at a location near you.

      In addition to the locations listed above,  tax assistance help is also offered at the Concord Library 2900 Salvio St., Concord, CA on Fridays and Saturdays until April 11, 2009.

      Interested persons are encouraged to call the library at 925-646-5455 for an appointment as soon as possible.  Appointments are available at 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 noon, 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Walk-in service is also available but priority is given to seniors and those persons with appointments.
