These are the most popular and frequently used databases for business. You need a library card to use these resources.  Contra Costa County residents who need a library card can apply online now and start using these resources immediately.

  • ReferenceUSA  
      
    Key executives, sales volume, number of employees, and parent and subsidiary relationships for both U.S. and Canadian businesses. Contains residential listings for U.S. and Canadian households and information on U.S. health care providers.
  • Encyclopedia of Associations  
      
    Now in the Gale Directory Library database. Search all three directories - national, international or regional or a specific directory using "Advanced Search". It includes the National Directory of Nonprofit Organizations.
  • Business & Company Resource Center  
      
    Full-text articles from magazines, trade publications, and business newswires. It's searchable by company name, key word, "SIC" or "NAICS: code or name of publication

Small Business Sourcebook

You may search the Small Business Sourcebook 2009 in the Small Business Resource Center database for information on starting a particular type of business. 

A "bibliography" shows a variety of resources: associations, trade publications, and magazine articles that may also be available fulltext in this or other databases.
